CERTIFIED HERS RATINGS
WHAT IS THE HERS INDEX?
The Home Energy Rating System (HERS) Index is the industry standard for measuring a home's energy efficiency and the nationally recognized system to inspect and calculate a home's energy performance. We are certified HERS Raters, according to the Residential Energy Services Network (RESNET). This means we are qualified to perform and provide an in-depth assessment with multiple inspections and tests to identify potential issues. These energy tests include duct pressurization test, blower door test, combustion safety testing, and infrared thermography. Here we test for the quantity and location of any air leaks in the building or HVAC system, the effectiveness of wall, floor, and ceiling insulation, as well as flag for any fire hazards or combustion risks.
WHAT IS THE HERS RATINGS PROCESS?
As certified HERS Raters, our team of experts always adhere to the standards set by the International Energy Conservation Code (IECC) when assessing each new construction project. We promise both a quick turnaround and to guide you through the entire process from pre-construction to post construction to ensure that the purpose and results of each step are clear.

Develop a projected HERS Index score
The first step of our process is to assess the architectural plans to develop a projected HERS rating. This can be used as a benchmark during the entire project to minimize deviations that may lead to wasted resources.
Air Seal: Inspect for air leaks
The first step of our onsite inspection is to see if there are any irregularities air leaks can quickly pop up, which can cause further challenges throughout the construction process. We ensure there are no potential risk areas that may decrease the energy efficiency of the home over time.
Thermal Bypass Checklist (Insulation inspection)
The Thermal Bypass Inspection Checklist must be completed for homes to earn the ENERGY STAR label. The Checklist requires visual inspection of framing areas where air barriers are commonly missed and inspection of insulation to ensure proper alignment with air barriers, thus serving as an extra check that the air and thermal barriers are continuous and complete.
Certify airtight insulation
In the next phase of the construction process, we inspect the home's insulation. This means ensuring the insulation is properly installed and maximum r-value is achieved based on assembly.
Examine duct system
Finally, we examine the duct system for any leaks which can negatively affect the efficiency of the home's heating and cooling system. We combine more than 15 years experience with industry leading technology to quickly identify risk areas.
Conduct final inspection and summarize test results
When construction is completed, we start the final phase of the project. During this step, our certified HERS Raters will inspect each element in the home and certify they are equal or greater than the projected ratings our team initially projected in the first step. As well, we provide you with a comprehensive report on the results of each test.
